In the depths of space, the crew of a spacecraft detect a signal coming from a derelict ship. While investigating, Executive Officer Kane is attacked by a parasite, which implants a xenomorphic life-form. The Alien escapes from Kane's body and grows rapidly, stalking and killing the remaining crew, including engineer Parker. Only Warrant Officer Ellen Ripley (and the ship's cat, Jones) are left to deal with the creature.
